spread lime to neutralize the acid and you could replace with another ground cover / evergreen. check with your local nursery for adviceHelpful Reply -

I also live in Colorado - Hi neighbor! My neighbors just did this because voles LOVE to live in them. They ripped out all of the bushes, and they have landscaped the area with mulch and rocks. They did place some flowerbeds where the juniper bushes were and they are doing fantastic. This is the 2nd year now and their flowers look lovely.Helpful Reply -
