Does anyone know what kind of plant this is?

Looks like good old creeping charlie to me.

I think it's "creeping charlies" - a weed that spreads like crazy.

Yep! Creeping Charlie. Very invasive weed. Almost took over my whole lawn a few years ago. Creeping me out

Lamium. It does spread by no agressively. Likes semi shade and has several flower colors and leave colors. I have it in my yard and love it.

If the stems are square, it looks like Henbit to me. a weed.

not lamium although similar leaf that is a for real perennial with variegated leaves.

and know is is not easy to control or pull....

I also suffered with Creeping Charlie! At one point, two thirds of my lawn was taken over. I tried everything under the sun. I finally tried Spectracide Weed and Feed. I mixed a much stronger solution than the instructions said. Used a handheld sprayer and really wet the "lawn" down with no rain scheduled for the next few days. Killed the Charlie and he lawn came back stronger than ever. I still get some Charlie coming back every so often, so I pull out what I can and spot spray it along with other weeds as general maintenance.

I also tried the Spectracide Weed & Feed , it worked great!

We call it gill-over-the-ground in VT. Dig some up, plant in a hanging planter.....gorgeous!

That is actually NOT Creeping Charlie - it's henbit. Since this picture was taken from the top, it's hard to see the little tiny purple flowers on the edges of the broader green leaves. Bumblees LOVE these flowers. Henbit is a weed, and will spread - but is pretty easy to pull. PLEASE DON'T SPRAY, you'll just kill bees, and the henbit will keep coming back.

By the way, Creeping Charlie is also a fast-growing weed, which features green leaves only - no flowers. Bees also like it (for the pollen), but it grows much closer to the ground (unlike this henbit, which can be grow to a foot tall before the flower stalks topple).

Your question led me check on the plant and I found a website which is called identifthatplant.com/three easily missed up early spring plants. It shows pictures of three very similar plants. The plant in your picture appears to be

henbit. Interesting to read.

We have a lot of that here in MO! It could very well be the Henbit that has been mentioned, but it also looked like another weed called "Dead Nettle", tho I don't think it has any stickers on it. Yes, this is easy to pull up, especially after a rain when the ground is wet/damp, and please DON'T SPRAY IT, kills the bees! Yes, you have to stay on it or it will take over your yard! I googled it at Missouri Lawn Weeds, but you can do that for your state. Good luck! c.

If in fact it is henbit it is edible. Use it in fresh salads or cook it like a pot herb. Many plants we call weeds are in fact very tasty and good for you. Some can be invasive but harvesting them means free food!
