Help with my 2 blue hydrangeas

Question

I recently received 2 hydrangea plants bought from a nursery. They have big blooms on them and are beautiful. I have other hydrangeas of different kinds in my yard but these are different. They don't seem to have hard wood stems and the blooms are so big they are falling over leaving the top of the plant flat.  I have them planted in large containers on my deck to keep them from getting too much sun, could them being in containers be the problem? And every branch has a bloom I'd say 10 on each plant if I cut them off will they bloom more? There are no   branches with just leaves only on them to make them like shrubs like my other ones. I'm concerned if I cut off the blooms to bring them inside to enjoy, and to also take some weight off the branches there will be nothing left =)

Planting the hydrangea in a container is not an issue at all. They are just not matured hydrangea which over time grow the hardwood stems. I would not cut anything until next year after you see the new growth emerging .You will only cut the dead wood and flowers.

Don't cut anything. There are many different hydrangea's When the booms die cut it off very close to the edge. Don't cut any branches or hardwood next year. You have to wait until everything starts to turn green then cut the dead branches. A lot of times they look dead but they are not or bend branches you think are dead if they are they should snap off if no don't cut. Depending on where you live I would not leave them in pots in winter. You have to water them often. Hop this helps.

I would leave them just now its possible they were not hardened off properly,as you know the flowers are left on until you cut them back,you can take off some rosetts for the house if you like.Good luck

If the flowers are drooping, place some chicken wire or something similar to a tomato cage and support the stems with florist tape or green plastic bag ties.
