Your plant may need fertilizer as the soil may be lacking in nutrients for blooms after the first year. Keep in mind, these plants (which are actually NOT cacti) will only bloom at this time of year and generally only once in a season around Christmas time, for which they are named. If you look at the bottom of the original planter and the roots are growing out of the bottom, it's time to re-pot as it is "root bound." Do not re-pot until it has NO blooms left on the plant. I had one that bloomed for 4 Christmases and then would bloom no more! Good luck and Happy holidays!
Keep them in a location with consistent temperatures between 55 and 80ĖF. During their winter dormancy, make sure to keep them in a cooler (yet still bright) areaā50 to 55ĖF if possible. Jungle/forest: Soil/fertilizer: Most jungle/forest cacti will successfully grow in average well-drained potting soil.
I was told if you put it in a darker room for about 2 week and then put it back in its original spot it should bloom. This link might help you https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/cacti-succulents/christmas-cactus/how-to-make-a-christmas-cactus-bloom.htm
My first Christmas cactus bloomed a little the first year in my mostly shaded kitchen window ledge indoors. Then nothing for two years. The fourth year, it bloomed all over, for two months, like a ball of pink-red! The fifth year, it had become stiff and leggy and died. (Iām pleading innocent because of insanity.) Some plant last many years. I just put some cuttings (pinchings?) that I rooted in water, into a small pot with a plant I bought for a quarter. In Feb. or March I will repot them, but this will give the cuttings a chance to grow stronger roots. š
stop watering it they will bloom when drouted
