I have tried it in sunlight & not, watered daily but now just seeing that it is damp.

Hi this is Peggy. Sorry your Shamrock plant is not doing well. Hope this information is helpful. Decrease the water you give to the plant. When the leaves are all dry, cut away the dried stems and place the pot in a cool, dark place until February. Bring yourshamrock plant back into a bright location in February. You may be overwatering. They are actually bulbs let it dry out a bit and see if sprouts up.
