Ask your nursery when they are going to get "sweet potato slips' in? Get on their waiting list if you need to. They come in a bundle, you separate them and plant them about 2 feet apart

you can do the laundry basket method, or garbage can. There are many ideas for that on Pinterest Be careful planting sweet potatoes or any potato in the ground they will take over your garden.

I buy sweet potatoes and wash them good with dawn dish detergent and warm water to remove any chemicals. I then put them in a dark place with just a small amount of light at the top of them. This encourages new sprouts to grow. when the sprouts are about 4 inches high I cut the sweet potato in sections where each sprout is growing then just plant them in the ground with about an inch of the sprout covered. I planted about 20 of them about 2 weeks ago and my sprouts are now vines that are approx 20 to 30 inches high.
