I live in Oregon. What time of year should I cut back my hydrangeas?

    Late winter or early spring is the ideal time to trim them back.

      Thank you so much! I did it too late last year and didn't have very many blooms.

    Some like endless summer bloom on old and new stems. If you cut them back in late winter or spring you will be cutting off the buds that develop in the fall. Identify what type of hydrangeas you have then do the research. The old stems look like dead sticks but if you look carefully you will see the buds. If you are in the Northeast when weather freezes then gets warm then freezes again buds can be killed and sometimes never come back
