Pine Straw Mulch

I am a Southern Belle, and love the pinestraw (long needle pine) that I grew up with in the South.. I can't seem to find it in my Yankee area, and needed to point out that it is diesase resistant, allows moisture to be retained without being mold/mildew infested, and does not allow the weeds to grow 4 ft over-night. Looking for help in zip code 06605

We in the north use pine bark mulch. I've heard the pine straw starts fires! Like the guy that parked his car on the edge of the driveway, the hot engine started the pine straw on fire. I have no problem with pine bark mulch...it keeps the weeds down......you can now get it in colors!
