I love propagating and I do it without root hormone. However if you want it to go fast then incorporate it. I'll share a couple things that you may find helpful.

You can do this at any time. I would certainly root some over the winter and have ready to put out in spring when all chances of frost has passed.
Thank you Kate, You made me think back to when I was a child and how beautiful honeysuckle smelled. We had it growing on the bank all down our road. We use to pull the stamen out and lick off the drop of dew. I do not know how to propagate them but I had to thank you for bringing back that memory for me.
Hi again Kate, If you are wanting vines that attract hummingbirds, red cypress vine is a great one. My late husbands parent had them around their porch and you could sit out there and watch the hummingbirds. They ran fishing line up and down their porch and let the vine cover it. It was a unique experience to be that close to a hummingbird. They grow extremely fast and you can train them to go where you want. Just wanted to let you know as another option to attract hummingbirds.
