I live in the City of Phoenix, though due to my zip code, my address is Glendale. I have two dwarf apple trees, and have harvested as many as 400 apples per year from them. As you probably know, they are not easy to grow here, due to the lack of cool enough weather. The ones I have are Anna Gold, and Golden Dorset...You need 2 different ones, for good cross pollination, which is essential. Anna Gold and Golden Dorset were bred for hot climates, and almost always do well here. The trees are just about 8' tall, and full grown now. They bloom and bear fruit very early. When I planted them, they were available at Home Depot, and at least one of the local nurseries. As you can see, sometimes they get colorful, other times, not so much. I have had quite a few very bright red ones, but pictures are scattered all over, thanks to my wonderful #@*@ computer! It's kind of tricky keeping the birds away. when they're ripe, which is early in June.
Let me know if you have questions, I'll be happy to help you in any way I can.
We live just outside Phoenix, and have put in several apple trees... the LOCAL nursery we use recommends Golden Dorset and Eisheimer they are "polinizers" for each other which helps increase fruit production.
https://ask.extension.org --- or check with your local privately owned Greenhouse/Nurserys -- NOT a 'big box' store -- they sell anything - whether it will succeed in your grow zone or not! Staying alive is NOT the same as 'thriving' and being all that it can be!
