Spring flowering shrubs should be pruned immediately after flowering has finished
i prune mine while they bloom ,if I want a bouquet. I finish shaping it right after it blooms and before it sets buds for next year.
After it has finished flowering and before the New growth, because otherwise you will be cutting off next seasons flowers
