Spring flowering shrubs should be pruned immediately after flowering has finished -

i prune mine while they bloom ,if I want a bouquet. I finish shaping it right after it blooms and before it sets buds for next year. -

After it has finished flowering and before the New growth, because otherwise you will be cutting off next seasons flowers -
