I have a pond area that has no shade. We bought plants that say they love sunshine with no shade required. Calla lilies, hibiscus etc. The hibiscus is thriving but all other flowers died. They were given proper watering and food but nothing helped. What would be the ideal flowers, that will bloom red, should I use in this area?? Help please!!

Zinnias, Cosmos, Crocrosima, Bee Balm, Lantana, Nasturiums, Pineapple sage, Echinacea. Were the plants mulched, to retain moisture? Did you want plants that would bloom in the pond, rather than near the pond? Could it be that the plants sustained too much hunidity, being near the pond? His has been a terrifically hot summer, and plants that would normally survive overhead watering were sun scalded and died. Horticulture specialists advised watering at ground level, and plants came back to life.
