If you want spring-blooming flowers like daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths, you need to think ahead and get the bulbs in the ground before the first hard frost. They need a long period of cold weather to initiate the biochemical process that causes them to bloom and time to develop roots. "

Bulbs for spring plants normally are planted in the fall. Where you plant them depends on if they like sun or shade. When you look at the ones you want, they normally will tell you if they are sun, shade or partial sun. Be sure to plant them at the specified depth. You don't say where you live or what planting zone you are in, so planting dates can't get answered. Most spring bulbs need a cold period before they will grow and bloom.
