Hi Dolores. I would check and see what type of hydrangea you have first. For the ones I have I don't prune them at all. The only thing I do in spring is cut the dead flower heads off. For mine the new growth and flowers come off of what appears to be dead wood or branches. If I did prune them in fall I wouldn't have flowers in summer.Helpful Reply -
