I've planted most of my perennials in the spring, but that doesn't mean you can 't plant in the fall. I've read that it's preferable to plant in the spring because of the soil conditions. Once I've dug a hole, I add a little compost and organic fertilizer to the soil. Plant your new perennials, water adequately, but not soaking wet. Water regularly the first year.
