Where do you live and what type of grass is it?
It may be silver crab grass
It could be a fungus. If you water in evening, water doesn't evaporate, especially if your lawn isn't airated well so the water sits on the grass because it is too choked for water to move into the earth well. Water in early morning and have lawn aerated.
It could also be two different types of grass.
I do water my grass in the evening, I will start watering in the morning and will get my lawn aerated, hopefully this will work!
