Moles or gophers? Do you have a septic system?
Perhaps air pockets evaporating.or scrubs eating away roots of grass?
It sounds like you have mole runs through your lawn. Or other burrowing varmints.
You may even have underground water seeping up. Contact a lawn company to inspect your yard. Better safe, than sorry.
