Don't worry . Before I started reading and studying , I killed cactus , succulents , even air plants! One plant at a time talk to the garden person at the nursery , read about it from books (I tried online resources but there were just too many and it was confusing .) So I'm a big reader. I went to the library . Now my patio and garden are covered in plants.

Ferns can be difficult because they like a lot of moisture, humidity, in the air and do not like to be in the sun. Ivy needs sun. Sometimes it is trial and error. Keep trying until you find ones that you like. Read the care instructions when you are shopping to see if they would work in the place you want to put them.
