If it leaks, it probably was punctured or run over + Cut Off and add a new hose connector of the right size: 1/2", or 5/8"

    and hammer the fittings.

  • Hoses can get expensive. There are cheap hoses and there are sturdy hoses. A lot depends on the water pressure at your hose bib too. My "cheap" hose is light enough to move around, but exactly that, cheap and they blow a hole, just as you are experiencing, and they do sell patch kits at any hardware store. They also kink easily which can create holes over time. My "sturdy" hose has lasted over a decade so far, but is really heavy to move around and really bad for my back.

Here are some hose buying guides.

Either buy cheap and expect to replace, or shell out a few bucks more for a good one with a decent warranty.

I have hoses that are 10+ years old. If you have a hole in it, then you can buy a hose repair kit at hardware store. Cut out the bad area and splice it back together. You can also buy hose-end kits and make your old hose into 2 shorter hoses.

I've changed them so seldom I never paid attention. Sometimes if they're left out where the sun can get to them, they get hard and crack. If put away after every use they should last years and years. I bought a "Hose Hideaway" at Walmart that made it really easy to reel it up after use and prevents it from getting punctured.

Or, poke more holes in it and use this one as a soaker hose in your flower bed(s). Then buy another, better hose and take better care of it this time.
