My Aspen Tree is growing fuzzy things- what could it be?

I was checking my trees for new buds yesterday and saw my young aspen tree with quite a few little fuzzy buds at the end of them. They aren't green but I've never seen them before. I didn't have my camera with me, so I couldn't take a pic. Does anyone know what this is?

They are actually tiny flowers that hang together in little fuzzy looking groups called catkins and they hang from a seed. The male Aspen usually produce those and drop them first in about the middle of April.
