You can fertilize it in spring or in the fall when the grass grows and the weeds die back (if you have any broad leaf weeds in your lawn)

Fertilizing can be done any time, but the weeds die off here in the fall and the grass continues to stay green and grow in the cooler weather, that is the best time to fertilize to get ahead of the weeds was my point, Janet.
