Sounds like your cucumbers are over growing the area you put them in. Sometimes you need to give them a structure to climb. Check on Pinterest under cumber trellis there you’ll fine several ways to control your wandering vines.
I have had a problem with the heat this year, even with good watering. They definitely are shorter vines and not as productive, I also have lost a lot of flowers when it was really hot.
