Plant your tomato plant as deeply as possible, at least 2/3 to 3/4 up the stem, this establishes a really good root system which supports and sustains the plant. You would want to use good potting soil with compost mixed in.
After planted and generous watering, sprinkle Epsom Salt around the plant , being careful to not get it on the plant-that will cause burns. ES is magnesium sulfate, a valuable nutrient for plants of all types, put the ES about every other week or so.
