Paint your walls your favorite colors. Keep only what you like, toss everything that doesn't bring you joy.

Start with a small budget for small projects if you need to. Say $20 or $100. Paint something outside your front door that will make your house different and make you happy. For instance: door or door frame, shutters, the stoop, a planter, house numbers, a chalk cat. If you have a garage or back door you use, paint something there that makes you happy when you walk up. I have a stuffed doll holding a Welcome Home sign hanging on the pegboard next to my garage door entrance. She was a garage sale find that has cheered me up for almost twelve years now. Do something small every week or so until your house feels more like your home. Try not to be discouraged if your home looks like many others' homes. You can make it distinctively yours by putting some love in it. Best wishes!
