How can I make some storage space for my sewing supplies in this room?

I would build a bench seat at the bottom of the window with a hinged lid. That way you could store out of site and still have your kitchen area when needed.

Mary....Trudi's suggestion is a great one for the bench under the window. You could also build shelves on either side of the window above the bench orr to the floor if the bench ends at windows. You can use pretty baskets or shelving totes (labeled) for many items for your sewing needs..

It is a very tight space. Check out antique malls and such for a small drawered cabinet that would fit into decor of room. Or maybe a carpenter could build shelving with a sliding door to allow access to shelves. The cabinet with drawers shown here holds an awful lot, but you need something wide and not too deep. I understand tight spaces! I have to combine my bedroom and office, and it's also my craft space and bookshelf space. I needed storage to hide unsightly essentials, and planned to build a cabinet with sliding doors until I found this one at IKEA. It's Havsta, if I recall correctly. The height is perfect for me, and for the cat to sun himself, and there's plenty of storage inside. It's the perfect size for sewing or craft supplies but for me it mostly has to be business supplies. I love the simple lines but I have plans for that expanse of blank white spaces on the doors (floral decoupage, maybe). The sliding doors are perfect for cramped spaces. I've already given it floral decorative knobs. And I'm thinking I can find a basket to snazz up the printer...

i meant to add, there are several cabinets like this available, not just at IKEA. Although they're not very expensive, sometimes we just don't want to spend that much. I chose this one because the interior space is 15" deep and height is 32". If you want a window seat with storage, you'd want something shorter. Window space would be ideal for you if you can pull the dining set out further away from the window. Cabinets come in many sizes and styles, and if you want to build something, you can get ideas from looking at ready-mades or in vintage stores.

Add a wall cabinet where you have the photo grouping. Since you only have 4 chairs, remove the leaf in the table and you would have room for a free standing cabinet.

Something I just remembered seeing in a very shallow but wide "cabinet" years ago: My friend had her fabrics folded and draped over rows of horizontal bars, like ladders. I don't remember much about the other compartments she had in parts of the built-in cabinets, but she had some notions in fabric-covered boxes. Probably shelves, but I don't really recall. She didn't have doors or curtains or anything to hide her goodies, but it was hew sewing and craft room so there was really no need.

I was at IKEA over the weekend and they have some nice slim cabinets to choose from. Or put shelves around the window and use baskets to hold your sewing stuff.

Can you turn your table the other way...end to the window? Then you would have more room on the sides for a storage armoire or shelves of some sort. If your table must be that way, then I can see building a bench in front of the window with drawers under the window and more going up the sides.

Is there room for a window seat with a hinged lid? Or IKEA type thin bookcase laid on its side. Would be room for a portable sewing machine and you could put doors in front of the cubicles you don’t want seen.

If your table is oblong rather than round turn it so the length is coming from the windows to the doorway rather than the way you have it now. It looks oblong in the picture but hard to tell. Will give you some more room when not in use.
