Help refrigerate too big my kitchen too small?
I literally don’t have quite 3 feet room between fridge and stove.. counter depth fridges are expensive but I’m thinking of going smaller.. freezer on top kind and placing fridge in front of window? It will free up space across from stove to put a cabinet.. any ideas?!! The company we bought fridge is getting it today.

Can you return the fridge and buy a smaller one? Without seeing entire kitchen and knowing the plumbing and electrical areas, it is hard to give good ideas but hope the link above helps some
You need a fridge that will fit the area and capacity your family needs. Take measurements and photos of your kitchen where you purchase the fridge so they can advise you.
Thanks for ideas.. we returned the one in photo and bought a counter depth, saved about 5 inches so it should be ok.. small kitchen living lol
Your kitchen is exactly like mine! Size wise I mean. And it’s definitely a one person kitchen!
Bonnie,
OH MY! Glad you solved your problem. I want one of those "French Door" Refrigerator and my problem is it is much too big for a 1969 kitchen! I would love to redo my entire kitchen, but as I am quickly closing in on 80, it won't happen.
No advise. just for laughs, my kitchen is to big and refrigerator is to small, was given it by a service helping less unfortunate. Do expect to get a larger one,
I have undercounter refrigerator drawers and a separate undercounter freezer from Second Chance. So, I repurposed and everything fit my kitchen space, which is a win-win for me! (If you go this route, make sure you choose high-end so you’ll have less chance of issues down the line.) I know most people want new new new, but that’s not me. LOL! My whole house is from Second Chance, from the windows to the floors to all appliances and every bathroom fixture, even all the tile and flooring (my half-bath has floors that were the lanes from a bowling alley that was torn down).
Here’s my kitchen. The drawers are on the left, the freezer on the right, the vaccum cleaner in the middle.
I'm happy you were able to get a counter-depth fridge and hopefully didn't have to cover up too much of the window. They are wonderful! When I bought my house it had a doorway entering into the kitchen. The size is good, about 10x10, and it opens to a 10x10 dinette space separated only by a peninsula. There was a large "picture window" size opening cut into the dinette wall to open the space up to the living room. Unfortunately, there was no room on the door wall for a fridge on the "kitchen" side, as a cabinet butted up to one side of it's opening. The very large (family size) fridge that came with the house was on the other side of the door jutting into the dining room space. It didn't look right, out of balance there and looked disconnected from the rest of the kitchen, which looks like it had been remodeled sometime in the early 2000s, with a microwave fitted above the range. I thought about removing the cabinet (large upper and lower) next to the door to make space for the fridge, but who wants to give up kitchen storage? So I splurged and bought a Euro style fridge 26" deep and matched the depth of existing cabinets perfectly, and it's 72" tall and 23" wide. The freezer portion is on the bottom and beautifully sectioned off into 3 compartments, 2 crispers in the fridge and plenty of shelf space in the upper. I love it but it's not for a large family and cost a lot so definitely not for everyone. But now that I have one, I won't be going back to the more conventional style of fridge!
Had the same problem...ordered a counter dept frig and loved it
If you are going to keep this frig, I would suggest you hollow out the wall
behind the frig. It should give you another six inches. Small kitchens
really do need windows.
Jeannette, I have a big French door refrig in a small galley kitchen. Had it before I moved and I don't care how small my kitchen is, I LOVE IT!!!! The freezer on the bottom is especially nice and the center section holds all my wine and cheese. Love the lights every time I open it. Can see much better. It's a Samsung and got it at Best Buy on black Friday after XMas.
Counter depth fridge is the way to go. Samsung makes some great models. I have a smaller two doors on top and freezer drawers below, and I LOVE it! I also put an 18"dishwasher instead of the standard size, and went big on the sink, for whatever won't wash in it. Good news is that you have a small work triangle, so you're not running marathons to your appliances!
