Replacing kitchen sink

I want to replace my old porcelain sink with a stainless steel sink. I know that a 16 to 18 gauge is what I should look for. What is better and can someone recommend a good brand of sink to buy? Thanks again!

here is info to help you out I would go to a local Home Depot or other store and look at sinks and see what fits your style and budget - or Home depot and lowes you can look online and see info about the sinks before buying

I recently purchased a 16 gauge and I am very pleased with it. I think it's worth it for the thicker one. Consider the type of faucet you will want when shopping because of the number of holes. I got a great clearance deal ($100) and it had 2 holes so I spent $40 more on the faucet than just a pull down faucet without the soap dispenser but still saved around $200. Be mindful of the mounting options. The one I bought can be mounted both ways so it doesn't have a "lip" to catch water around it if top mounted. When pricing, check to see if it comes with the baskets. Mine did not, most don't, and I'm glad it didn't because I wanted the kind that spin lock into place rather than just pressing down. As far as brand, I don't think there is a great difference on stainless steel as long as you keep the gauge in mind and watch all the extras that you may or may not have to purchase.

Hello. That is a great question. When we picked out our granite countertops the sink came as a complementary add-on. It may be worth viewing at a home improvement store or seeing the quality differences in person. We are very pleased with our free stainless steel sink however

Go with the 16 gauge. Rule of thumb...the lower the gauge the thicker the metal. Also works for electrical wiring.

If affordable for you, go with the smaller gauge stainless steel sink. Also, one more thing to consider in addition to what others have said is to be sure you have room beneath the sink if you are purchasing a deep one. Some sinks are very shallow and create much more splashing when using the water.

Hi! Lower gauge is better. There are so many choices in the home improvement stores! I usually look at their products online, first to give me a better idea of what is available and the price ranges. Also, it's a good time to update your faucet!

Go to home depot, They have a great selection that will suit your budget. Also try any local plumbing suppliers...

  • And get Cerama Bryte to clean it! Keeps it looking fabulous.

  • You might shop around and see them in person. Be sure to read reviews (though no doubt they’ll vary). Ultimately stainless will scratch so if that bothers you, you might consider a different material.

Leisure Sinks are good. Buy the best quality you can afford that fits your taste test!
