Go to your favorite hardware store to get some ideas. They also sell all of the products you will need for your project. They generally have professionals in store to give you some ideas and expert help if you need it. .
I got some advice at the woodworking store and it worked great. The product is called general finish. Fist I cleaned the cabinets then put a little darker stain on them. You just wipe it one. Then I put the general finish satin on. They looked almost new. If you replace the counter and backsplash without doing anything to the cabinets the cabinets are going to look awful.
Hi Shelley. A fast update is to replace all of the knobs and handles. For the back splash I would first decide if you want to go with glass, tile, or natural stone. The area is pretty light and neutral so anything should go. I would stick with a darker color since the floors, counters, and cabinets are lighter.
You could glaze them and change hardware. I had light maple in my last house and that's what I did.
Change the handles
Change out the hardware on the cabinets, you can paint the countertops with Rustoleum or Gianni countertop restoration kits.
Change out handles on cabinets
Change out pulls and purchase some precut wood designs to put on fronts of doors. Paint counter top and add backsplash. Add shelving in window.
Give them a good cleaning and change out the handles.
I have those exact cabinets with the exact same hardware. I am anxious to see what you do with them and how they turn out.
