I wonder if anyone has tried to change the color of granite and how?

I can't imagine that paint would stick very well. You may get 2 years of very gingerly use out of it. If you cook 2-3 meals a day in your kitchen beware!!!! I have the same color (hate it) and feel your pain but a chipping peeling painted countertop would be a nightmare compared to the unseen spills and invisible black flies in the summer...... It could be covered with tile. I've seen some that look great.

They used wood stain, but I don't know if it would work if the granite is already sealed.

If you don't want to remove the granite ... try applying a thin sheet of quartz or marble over it. Or ... you could apply a layer of opaque resin over the granite.

Better yet, cover it with 10" quartz or marble tiles. They look awesome and are much cheaper and easier to apply then a slab. Good luck. Love to see how it turns out.

They have a kit in the paint section that lets you pick the color of your choice. To redo your counter tops without costing you an arm & leg. My niece redone hers & it looks new. Hope that helps you.

I've seen what resin/Epoxy can do, but I've never done it. I'd talk to someone who really knows. I was thinking of how to hide granite, but you may have to remove it if you can't cover it. Ask. Here's a website all about Epoxy ...

I would not do it - granite is an expensive upgrade in a house that adds value to a home. If paint it or change it - you will be depreciating the extra value that it adds.

I agree with Cindy - You might regret doing anything to it. Why not get some stone or ceramic tiles you like, and make removable "place mats" for areas of your counter by mounting them on tile board with cork on the back, or individual tiles with cork on the back? Also easier to clean or change.

I know this is an older post, but for those in 2021 looking for a way to make granite look better is to hone it. The process is a lot cheaper than tile.

Look up Stone Coat Epoxy. Will save you thousands over replacement.
