  • Depending on the current finish, you need to remove it using paint remover and/or a sander. Sand away any imperfections and then give it a final sanding with fine grit sandpaper. Apply the new finish, If it's stain, I highly recommend sealing it with 3 coats of polyurethane. If you are using paint, choose one that is durable, like enamel. Hope that helps!

What is the table made of? Do you want to paint or stain it?

i have sanded mine & restained it, but the easiest, fastest so far has been. I painted it with caulk paint. The only thing I did first was wash it with Dawn dish soap 1st. It will get any grease off. I put two thin coats of caulk paint on. They dry fast. I then put on a clear wax. It has been 3 years & it is holding up fine. I have my grand kids everyday & I do use plastic place mats where they sit. We have had a lot of spilled milk, crafts & homework & it’s holding up fine.
