You can paint it to match your decor- give it a brand new look, keep us posted!
Add some castor wheels to the bottom of a five-shelf bookcase. You might need two or three of the bookcases depending on whether the woodstove is in a corner or situated in the center of the wall. Roll the bookcases in place to surround the woodstove when it is not in use. You can add books, knick-knacks or plants to make the area more useful or appealing to the eye. We did something similar to this to divide the area in a large room into two rooms... an office and a den. You can get some great deals on the bookcases buying from second-hand stores or yard sales. Good luck!
Karla, thanks for your ideas. I'll go to Habitat store this week and see if anything will fit my space.
You might consider purchasing a large fireplace screen, and then decorate the screen by painting a scene or a color that matches your room. Another possibility would be using window shutters, held together by hinges. I purchased several small one, and they look nice, and prevent my kitties from scratching my hifi cabinet.
I have bèn looking for some economical showers with any luck. Yes, a large fireplace screen is probably the best way to go. Thanks for your ideas.
