It's a dark green that doesn't go with anything else in the house. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it's a marbled green color. I'm not sure what you do when g... See more
WE bought high heat black paint and sprayed it on. Five years later and it still looks like new.
If you paint it you must use high temperature stove or engine paint. Use wide masking tape and old newspaper to tape off glass hearth and surrounding items from overspray.
You will have to use a high temp paint to paint over, like: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-12-oz-Bar-B-Que-Black-Satin-High-Heat-Spray-Paint-7778830/202315061
Good Afternoon :) If you want an instant change you can paint it ;) Either using a foam brush or spray you can apply high heat paint and then decide whether or not you may want to do the rest of the front of the fireplaceplace.

Good Luck :) Thanks for using Hometalk :)
Rust Oleum works great, we have used it on wood stoves, must be high temp though
But I don't want to clean it. I want to take the shine off and give it a dark patina. I hate brass!
