I want to put rock on my fireplace- what's the easiest way?

What is the easiest way to put River rock or stacked stone around my fireplace up to the ceiling. I will have to try to do it mostly by myself. I am a female do-it-yourselfer.

There are too many things you need to know. The type of cement, you'll need, how many River Rock you'll need, and how will you do this yourself ? I'd call a mason to do this job, there are so many aspects that you haven't considered. How will you hold the rock, while putting cement to hold it up ? That's just 1 aspect.
