Wow, there are so many things you could do here. Vicki's idea is one, a beautiful long credenza would be another with the tv on it and art above . Highlight it by doing something to the back wall, I see beautiful horizontal planks about 5" wide and stained a nice medium toned stain, with the credenza in front and either the tv hung on the wall or on it. You could have cupboards built across the bottom as high as you want your tv to sit for comfortable watching and paint them the same as the walls and paper or plank the wall above. You could put a couple of pot lights in the top if you wanted. It's really a great space and I hope you can emphasize that and use it for the statement it can be.

I see storage storage storage in this niche! Bookcases, drawers, shelves, cupboards all hiding a myriad of things including electronics and kids toys!

Hi Judy- there are so many possibilities here! Since we cannot see the rest of the space, I am assuming that your taste tends to run towards more modern, since the TV stand is so sleek. Ikea makes so many component pieces that you could put together to create one cohesive unit. I would paint the back wall an accent color (darker if you are going light furniture and lighter if you are staying with black). Adding a low media console plus some bookcases and shelving on either side will anchor it. When you are measuring, make sure you find pieces that are pretty close to the width and height so they don't get lost in that alcove. If you wanted to try something more rustic, you could find an old console table or sideboard (with doors to hide all the TV components) and paint that, then adding pipe and planking shelving on either side to create book and display shelving. The alcove actually looks deep enough to add an area rug for contrast and some artwork on the left and right walls. Have fun! I am kind of jealous : )

What a great space you have there! Lots of ideas already mentioned here so I will just add this: May be helpful for you if you are going to design and build an entertainment unit in the space. Have fun! Be sure to post an update with what you end up doing :-)
