Go through them. Keep only the ones that have a container and are not cracked, any of them that belong to someone else return. Now look at what you have left which ones do you never use give those away. Keep the lids you have with the containers either on them or sit the container on its lid if you have multiples of the same size stack the containers and stack the lids underneath them. Then you'll have a free drawer.

If you must must keep them in the drawer make dividers so that each lid size has its own space. This way whoever puts the dishes away can just toss the lid into the drawer.

I believe eve everyone struggles with this issue at some point in their life. Hang in there until you find the solution that works for you.

The problem here is there is not enough depth to anything but what you are doing. I keep my plastic containers in a thin bottom cabinet. I purchased a shoe box sized plastic basket from the dollar store. I stand up the lids in the basket and keep it on the shelf in the cabinet with the containers. Everything together in one spot.

It's obvious you can't neatly store the lids in a shallow drawer, however, if you create a peg system you may stack a few lids in designated slots. 1) Cut a sheet of pegboard to the drawer's inner dimensions. 2) Purchase short pegs to accommodate board. 3) Arrange lids where you want them to be. 4) Insert pegs in board to keep your lids in place. When you're sure of placement, glue pegs to board if desired. Should look something like this picture
