Storage ideas for a small house

utilizes under bed storage..my cousin keeps the canned goods there in a plastic wheeled under the bed lidded storage box.s,, you can get raisers for the beds- increases storage space, for the bath individual ditty kits...use in bath, store in the bedroom. the kits can be fabric shopping bags..holds the towel and wash cloth too. dont put any thing in the attic to store.. they get hot and the heat can damage items. you can finish off the attic space for a bonus room if head clearance is available.

I am a huge fan of using the inside of doors. Whether it be the interior kitchen/bathroom cabinet doors or closet doors.. there is so much storage area. :) I also used to use a cheap cloth shoe hanging rack inside my shower, the hangers are easy to remove and the holes left behind are perfect to hang on the inside/back of your shower curtain. This holds and keeps out of guest view, everything from shampoos and lotions to whatever you need out of your bathroom cabinet to make room for more stuff. :P

i use alot of totes (different sizes) or baskets on the closet shelves.. you can stack them....

My answer is long, but hope it will help. For kitchen & bath: Turntables to be able to access the back of cabinets. They have large ones at Bed, Bath, & Beyond to fit wider cabinets. Get the largest ones that will fit the depth of your cabinet size. If you have inaccessible corners in you cabinets, use a turntable there also. If you can get your fingers on the edge of the turntable, you can spin it to get to the back of that corner. Just use shorter items on the turntable in front of the corner so that you can lift items from the back over the front turntable. Also use wire stacking shelves to double your space. Use hooks on the underside of shelves to hang coffee cups. Corner stacking shelves holds saucers and sandwich plates. Vertical dividers make plates or skillets easy to slide in and out. Plastic drawers with sliders that screw onto shelves make it easy to access lower cabinets without having to get on your knees to dig in the back. You can find these at Lowe’s or BB&B. Use dividers in bathroom drawers to keep makeup, facial items, etc. from all rolling around together. The container store has great dividers that are adjustable and slip down in drawers. Sock dividers work great in deep drawers to stand taller items, nail polish & remover, lipsticks, etc. Shelves above doorways can hold baskets to corral gloves, extra items, or to stack towels or blankets. Use taller chests with drawers for night stands. Use wall or ceiling mount lights next to beds to save space. Put in extra shelves in closets. The container store also has shoe stackers that let you stack one shoe on top of the other so that a pair takes up the space of one shoe. These just sit on a shelf. I love these. Add adjustable shelves everywhere. Just mount the supports and buy prefinished shelves. Place the supports, hang the shelves, and your done. Just be sure to use drywall anchors to put the screws in so that the supports are secure. As your needs change you can add or subtract shelves.

Use a clear shower curtain with pockets to hold shampoo, razors, whatever. Run shelves near the ceiling all the way around children’s room to hold baskets for extra toys, clothing, and books. Use the same baskets to keep the look clean. Put decorative tags on the outside so that you know what is inside. Use large hooks on walls to hang soft fabric baskets that can hold toys—even in the living room--, blankets, and shoes. Use hooks for backpacks, jackets, and purses. Use your closet doors both front and back. On doors you can use clear shoe holders for socks, scarves (rolled up), shoes, small items in the kitchen like: spice packets, sandwich bags, snacks. Use inside of cabinet doors with hooks for measuring cups and spoons, and lids. Make sure every piece of furniture does double duty. Use a low chest for a coffee table, small chests for side tables, baskets, boxes, bins hooks, anything that contains the stuff of life. In a small space make sure every single thing has a place. Use a simple color scheme like gray and white or whatever your favorite color is, but use light colors and bring in a pop of color through pillows and candles. Try to use the same basic color throughout your small space and personalize each room with small color accents. This will make you space flow from one area to the next and feel bigger.

If there is room under the bed buy one of those plastic storage units that slides right under the bed. Saves on dust collection too. I have under 2 beds in very SMALL rooms. It works.
