Ideas for hanging chairs on walls

Question

I've seen lots of pictures of people hanging folding chairs and bar stools on walls for storage. What kind of hooks are being used to hang these? Not looking for decorative, just functional. I have the bar stool in photo

I don't think it's so much what type of hardware is used to hang the furniture as much as it is WHERE on the wall it can be done securely. Putting a hook/etc. into a stud is the ideal situation, but if you find yourself faced with hanging these pieces on hooks that are screwed into wallboard, you'll need some form of anchor.

I actually have a thing for little old chairs... this one was my friend's as a child.  I hung the chairs, folding chairs and folding footstools with giant 14-16 penny nails on this porch and another which have wood siding walls.

I'd like know how to hang chairs as well, however I want to hang them as shelves, just not sure the safest, most secure way to do so.

When I have a heavy object to hang, and it is not centered on the stud(s), I use a sanded piece of 2 x 4 and attach it to the studs at both ends, then paint the 2 x 4 the same color as the wall. I use 2' deck screws, 2 or 3 per side. You can use construction glue between the 2 x 4 and the wall for a greater sense of security. Most homes built now have 16' centers between the studs, but you can use a little electronic stud finder (mine is cheap and accurate). This gives you a solid, stable base to attach your hooks. I hung a copper pot rack this way, and it isn't going anywhere. Ever.

My hubby heard about my idea over his D-body. The one short oblong stool has a Break so will cut in 1/2 & put in 2 places in Bath & Kitchen in a corner, perfect.
