Can I lay St. Augustine grass squares on Bermuda-mix grass?

subdivision never put down grass, just weeds/Bermuda mix in backyard. Can I just buy pallets of st. Augustine and put on top of cover that's there? Any special considerations?

You could, but I doubt it would last very long, then you just wasted your money. Who has money to burn? Not knowing where you live, each area of the country has steps to take for a successful lawn. At this point I would hire a local garden professional to advise you as to what to do. Where I live, they would till and aerate the soil, level it then lay the purchased sod. Hot, sweaty backbreaking work if you are not used to it.
