How do I make a temporary patio floor over grass?

I'm a renter with a small concrete patio With an equal sized grassy area next to it. I would like to level it and put down something temporary to use as a patio extension. I would have a canopy couch and chairs and table in this area. It can't be anything elaborate because I am an active 62 Year old woman and I will be building it myself . I was thinking of some kind of large plastic decking squares (not too expensive) but I'm not sure how to put it on the grass so it Is sturdy.

Unfortunately, nothing will be super level if the ground isn't to start. I was thinking about the clip together style decking but I'm not sure how well it would hold up. What about adding a pea gravel area? Would that be an option?
One of the most important things to keep in mind is a perfectly level piece of ground to start with. I hope you have your landlord's permission to do this.
If leveled with pea gravel have you considered pavers or interlocking tiles? The tiles would be a little more stable then interlocking plastic and they would hold the weight of a bbq or seating better.
Pea gravel is great when you put down. Taking is up when you move is a nightmare getting all the stones gone.
