Fire pits can get really hot, really fast and not knowing how big you want yours to be , I wouldn't put it any closer than 12 feet from the house .
Hi Barbara, I know for a grill they suggest at least 18" away from combustible material, although the siding still gets pretty hot. If your fire pit is gas, I would at least double that. that is a pretty subjective issue.... depends on the size of the pit, for sure.... just be conservative on the location
Firepits belong at a camp or in the neighbor's yard. They are a fad, usually stay dirty looking and used very occasionally.
If you want it close to the house, think about putting seating around it and put one side of the seating by the house to keep distance from the siding, as the seating should keep the fire pit at least three or four feet away from the fire pit.
