How can I edge my steep driveway so the dirt & tree debris will stop?

I live in a redwood forest in the Santa Cruz mountains. My driveway is fairly steep and one side of it has the upslope (the other the downslope). I've asphalted the driveway and parking area. Now the upslope keeps spilling out onto the driveway. I realize a retaining wall of some sort is needed but I'd like it to be unobtrusive and fairly easy and cheap to achieve. Any ideas?

People are going to have some really good ideas, but I just wanted to add that if you are getting growth over the driveway right now, you can spray a weed-be-gone product from Lowe's that removes growth permanently for the year. It's different than round-up because with roundup it grows back. I used this product this year as my neighbors grass continuall grows into my rocks and for the first time I love it! It left a perfect line between us, my rocks are clean and his grass is growing wonderfully. Don't use on a windy day! And definitely look into a barrier, as well.
