How can you repair plastic watering cans?

by Ginetta
I accidentally left my watering cans out in winter and the water froze. When it thawed the seam at the bottom can apart and of course, now it leaks. Will silicones fix this? Thanks.

yes, probably; as long the crack isn't too wide. warm the can first, be careful if you use direct heat( matches oe lighter, as these will cause the plastic to curl and make the hole larger). gently push the two edges together using a warm spoon. after the edges are together( or at least close together,) and the can has cooled; apply the silicone and smooth it out with the spoon(preferably a plastic one). allow to cure and check for leaks.

To be honest the amount you spend on the adhesive will be more than the watering can.

If you are attached to the watering can, you can fix it by using silicone inside and out over the crack. Be sure it is very clean and dry. Spread the silicone with your finger on one side and let it dry then do the other. If it is just a watering can, scrap it and get a new one.
