Mix in some pellets that break down the clay. Then add soil, manure, peat, and finish with mulch. Clay is good for water retention, but it is hard to have a plant develop fully when soil is predominantly clay because it doesn't get enough nutrients and oxygen.

add compost, gypsum, coffee grounds, egg shells, soil (natural stuff) don't water as often because clay retains water and plants rot easier. Clay has just as many nutrients as any soil---"Advantages of Clay Soil. Even clay soil has some good qualities. Clay, because of its density, retains moisture well. It also tends to be more nutrient-richthan other soil types." info. https://www.growveg.com/guides/growing-vegetables-in-clay-soil/
