you may need to do some irrigating to have water run off so the area doesn’t stay so wet! Dig a deep trench and either add a drainage pipe or a lot of gravel and put back a good draining soil rather then using the existing dirt! We live in a area where the ground is all clay and the rain fall just don’t drain well anywhere. So I have to dig deep trenches and add gravel for drainage and/ or a drainage pipe and then I add back a good garden soil for all my plants plus add bark nuggets that also absorb water. I don’t use bark dust cause it turns to dirt too fast and have to be replace. Nuggets keep the weeds from growing back longer! Good luckHelpful Reply -

Call your local university or the state conservation dept. they can usually help for free. or you can always go to a reputable nursery. always look at an example of the end result before buying/planting.. bushes like forsythia grow good and can be trimmed for several years but they are a weed, and reputable growers will not recommend them..Helpful Reply -
