Hi Bernardo: If you want something a little fancier, you can get some of those cement forms from the home improvement stores, dig up the dirt and grass, put the form down and pour in some Quikrete. You can make them as thick or thin as you want to, don't make them thin as they won't last long:( They are easy to use as you don't really have to level the ground, they are reusable, the Quikrete will fill in the voids and then, Bob's your uncle, you're done:) Here's the site for them from Lowes. https://www.lowes.com/pd/QUIKRETE-WalkMaker-Country-Stone-Pattern-Concrete-Mold/3006097 There should be a couple of designs.
Good luck
Lay out your pattern with the garden hose and then spray paint along the lines. Cut out the area so that you can place small gravel or sand down. Tamp well. You could put in some edging to keep the grass from creeping in. Once you have laid down the sand, you can then either lay down patio stones, which come in various sizes, or the smaller bricks. Once that is done sprinkle a bit of dry cement and sand into the cracks and brush in. The concrete powder will solidify and help to keep out the ants and weeds.
