There is a plant dealer called High Country Gardens that features many xeriscape plants and garden ideas. They used to have a catalog, but I just found them on the web. Your county Cooperative Extension may also be a source of information.
Fantastic idea! Very popular in my area. No matter where you live this can be accomplished. If you currently have grass, I would kill it off first before starting. Use these sites as a guide. Consult with your local Ag Extension and a reputable local nursery to determine what native plants in your area would be suitable.

Xeriscape is accomplished by using plants that flourish in your region with little to no intervention. You can start by observing the vegetation in the wild areas around your house.
