Instead of planting underneath the tree consider making that are as a focal point with various shade planting. For annual shade you can plant non-stop begonias,coleus,caladiums For perennials Hostas,Heuchera,Lirope ferns,and sedge grasses.As for the fungus growth since the picture is not really clear I would get a systemic fungicide for fruit bearing trees.Helpful Reply -
