I have no idea where you are in the world, so my advice would be to ask advice from the Garden Centre where you intend buying it.

The type of seed depends on what zone you are in. For the brand I recommend Scotts. I have learned it pays to pay more for good seed.

Hey there, I am in Horticulture classes and grass is hard...you need to know what Zone you are in...and how fertile your area is, and how much sun and how much water the area gets...THEN, you can select your grass. BRAND names are okay but you pay for a Bunch of filler...Yes, it helps it grow but your money is better spent on separate seed, fertilize later....Do NOT buy Kentucky 31...this was the "bomb" grass seed about 20 years ago, but not good for lawns...It grows in clumps, not filling in well... You need to turn the grass seed bags over and read the ingredients... My Best suggestion is to go to your state's agricultural site...they usually have a Lawn grass page that shows the better seeds to use for your area. Don't hesitate to ask more questions to me...

Depends on your area. Different types of grass do better in different parts of the country. Also, you need to consider your space...is it shady, sunny, pets?, etc. Check with your local garden center to see what the best options are in your area.
