Holly! The deep dark green leaves makes it attractive. I have 2, one male and one female, so they will berry. They are deer resistant, low maintenance and depending on how tall you want them, easy to trim. Enjoy your garden!

There are numerous lists on the internet, just know that in a hard enough winter deer will eat almost anything. For sure, stay away from hosta and tulips.

Herbs, lavender, iris, gaillardia, peonies, cone flowers, black eye susan, lamb's ears, yarrow, lily of the valley, rhododendron, boxwood, azalea. I have all of these in my garden. I have many more for groundcover. After years of growing several plants and throwing my money away those seem to have lasted. We live near a park and lake so we have deer throughout the year; in the fall and spring we have between 3 to 20 in the backyard.

I'm copying this list, but I have to say that in NE PA the deer eat the rhododendron.
