For a more organic approach, I use borax, the 40 Mule Team kind you find in the laundry detergent aisle. If you search online you can find a recipe for one that will kill the creeping charlie without hurting the grass. In my case, I sprinkle it rather liberally on my mulch pathways and on the river stone border between the yard and my paths. I let the rain water it in. It is best done in early spring or in the fall but it works without fail. Be careful to not get near plants that you don't want to kill unless you use the proper recipe that kills it without harming anything else.

I will pass Janet's solution on to my cousin, who complains about Creeping Charlie every spring and summer. She just hates it. My mom called it 'Jack and Jill' and we loved our patch of it. Anything green, especially with pretty flowers, is welcome in my yard so long as the pretty flowers don't turn into burrs!

The only way I have been able to slow it down is herbacides which then kill anything else the spray comes in contact with. It you are trying to kill it in spots you could paint the herbacide onto the leaves but you will have to do repeated treatments. I have been battling Creeping Charlie for more than 30 years. I would just let it take over but it strangles any other plants and eventually kills them.

Try calling your county extension office Master Gardner office if you have a program in your area. I would try Weed-Be-Gone; It does not hurt grass, but will kill clover and similar types of weeds that spread through grass.
